SEJ United Methodist Volunteers in Mission

United Methodist Volunteers In Mission (UMVIM) SEJ is the short-term mission agency of the Southeastern Jurisdiction of The United Methodist Church. UMVIM exists to promote, encourage, and enable Christians to exemplify "Christian Love In Action" through short-term mission service in the United States and abroad.

UMVIM provides opportunities for service by developing and nurturing relationships with domestic and international leaders. We continually nurture our contacts with these leaders to respond to the needs of local communities and to provide comprehensive project information. Our office strives to connect volunteers' talents to suitable projects for effective service.

Tornado Response Through UMCOR

Annual Conferences, local congregations and individuals are responding to those impacted by the December 10-11, 2021, tornadoes that swept across six-states. Kentucky, Tennessee and Mississippi, within the SEJ footprint, experienced loss of life and significant property damage.

Annual Conference disaster response organizations are already responding with the support of the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR). Those wishing to help in this massive disaster response should consult the Annual Conference's website for the region you are most able to help to see specific ways you can be of assistance. In this early stage, financial gifts to UMCOR US Disaster Response and Recovery (Advance Number: 901670) or to a similar fund established by an Annual Conference is the best way to help.

Annual Conference disaster response organizations will communicate (via their AC Website) how, when, and where more "boots on the ground" assistance is needed.
